Our project Artscapes & Archetypes focuses on the design of urban residences interiors inspired by quintessential Greek Artists. The foundation for the first interior presented here, sprung as a result of a collaboration of Pieris.Architects with Furniture Gallery, a company that produces quality handmade creations in Greece.
The first artist we studied is Yiannis Moralis. His work, which belongs to the movement of Greek post-war modernism of the 30’s, moved from realistic depictions of the human form towards an abstract geometric stylisation incorporating curves and lines.
Our design process for the creation of the first interior was based on geometrical abstraction. Through a thorough analysis of the artist’s work, a prototype strip of geometrical forms is produced.
The main elements of the room: the bed and the side tables reflect the artist’s curved forms and language both through the geometric lines of their individual parts and their distinctive colour palette.
