Being part of the larger residential development of Aetheria Heights at Peyia in Cyprus, the building consists of two twin residences of 120 sqm each.
The twin residences have similar-sized spaces and without being symmetrical co-exist harmoniously along the hill as one entity blending discretely with their natural surroundings.
Aetheria Heights is the 1st energy-zero settlement in Cyprus, and therefore Aetheria residences need to comply with low-energy consumption requirements and make use of renewable energy resources to cover the annual amount of energy consumed by their inhabitants.
Despite their restricted size, each one of the residences provide their inhabitants with flexibility and comfort being able to accommodate a family of 4 members and a guest-couple.
Large window openings offer unobstructed views towards the horizon whereas beautifully designed custom-made fins offer variation to the buildings’ façade and act as solar shading devices.
As part of the study, we performed a regional climate assessment and analysis of constructive needs in terms of climate conditions, essential not only to achieve comfortable living conditions, but also to allow development that balances energy consumption, polluting emissions and environmental protection.
Finally, the natural slop has been enriched with native drought resistant plants and grasses for dry climates and has been landscaped to require minimal maintenance. Outdoor lighting has been carefully studied to complement the minimalist landscape design and create a relaxing ambience.
