Perched on Kythnos Island, the residence blends traditional allure with minimalism. Drawing inspiration from the island’s historic barns and cells, it is constructed from local stone and wood by skilled artisans, creating a tranquil retreat that harmonizes with its natural surroundings.
The thick stone walls merge seamlessly with the landscape and provide thermal mass, helping to regulate indoor temperatures. Wooden pergolas extend from the main structure, offering serene, shaded spaces for relaxation. Strategically placed windows and doors with traditional wooden shutters frame vistas of hills and sea, while flooding the interiors with natural light. Both the exterior and in the interior feature recycled and reused materials, fostering a fluid connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. This design celebrates a serene fusion of tradition and modernity, cultivating a harmonious living environment deeply connected to nature.
