The SPOT (Sustainable Practices of Tomorrow), an initiative by HERACLES Group, sets a benchmark in sustainable architecture at the University of Patra campus. The coworking space exemplifies sustainable practices not only through its construction stage but through it whole life circle. It is envisioned both as a standalone structure or part of a future cluster of similar structures, forming a multi-cellular complex.
The SPOT is the first building in Greece to utilise 3D printing technologies, including Gantry Concrete 3D and Robotic Arm printing. This approach significantly reduces material usage and waste production. Constructed with Lafarge’s eco-cement, which boasts up to 90% lower CO₂ emissions compared to traditional CEM I concrete, the SPOT highlights the critical role of advanced technologies in addressing environmental challenges and setting new standards in sustainable architecture.
